A history with rich nature

Karatsu/Genkai area is blessed with a rich nature with sea, mountains and rivers. From ancient times, it is prosperous as a the gateway of the mainland and was the main stage of some huge moments of Japanese history including Mongol invasions of Japan and Japanese invasions of Korea by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. As the legend says, "Kamikaze winds blew and helped Japan defeat the enemy", people here have been protected by the nature.
